Whose Voice Are You Listening To?

Whose Voice Are You Listening To?
Have you ever stopped and wondered?
Is this God speaking,  or is this just me?
Or maybe you’ve wondered something even deeper.
Is something trying to distract me, discourage me, or pull me off course?
The truth is this:
Every day, multiple voices are speaking into your life.
If you don’t recognize these voices, you might end up following the wrong one without realizing it.

The Voice of God Brings Clarity and Peace

God’s voice brings assurance and gentle guidance, not disorder or haste.
It doesn’t pressure you into fear.
Even when He corrects you, it comes with peace, not panic.
  • God speaks with clarity, not chaos.
  • He leads with truth, not manipulation.
  • He brings conviction, not condemnation.
You might feel challenged, but you won’t feel broken.
Scripture:
“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” — John 10:27
God’s voice aligns with His Word. It will never contradict who He is.

Your Voice Sounds Like Logic, Emotion, and Experience

Your voice is shaped by what you’ve been through.
It reasons. It calculates. It tries to protect you.
Sometimes it sounds wise, but it can also be rooted in:
  • Fear from past experiences
  • Doubt from previous disappointments
  • Overthinking leads to hesitation.
Your voice often counsels caution: “Play it safe.” “Don’t risk it.” “What if it doesn’t work?”
It isn’t evil; it’s just human.
But it’s not always the truth.

The Voice of the Enemy Brings Fear, Confusion, and Accusation

The enemy’s voice is loud, urgent, and negative.
It will:
  • Rush you
  • Shame you
  • Make you feel unworthy.
  • Twist the truth just enough to confuse you.
It sounds like:
“You’re not good enough.”
“You’ve messed up too much.”
“God can’t use you now.”
Where God corrects with love,
The enemy condemns with shame.
Scripture:
“The enemy comes only to steal, kill, and destroy…” — John 10:10
If something pulls you away from purpose, peace, or truth, it isn’t from God.

So, how do you tell these voices apart?

Ask yourself three simple questions:
  1. Does this bring peace or pressure?
God brings peace—even in hard decisions.
  2. Does this align with God’s Word?
    God never contradicts Himself.
  3. Does this draw me closer to God or push me away?
God’s voice leads you toward Him, not away from Him.

Final Thought

You don’t have to be perfect to hear God clearly.
You have to be willing to pause, listen, and lean in.
The more time you spend with Him,
The more familiar His voice becomes.
Just as you recognize the voice of someone you love,
You will begin to recognize His.
So before you move,
before you react,
before you make a decision,
Pause.
Listen to just one voice: God’s.
God’s voice will always lead you right.
